Success!

Russell Austin

Music examinations are not for everyone - many of my pupils, especially some of the adults are not interested in them at all - and I understand that.

Examinations do however give developing musicians "a course to follow" - and a considerable feeling of satisfaction and achievement when successfully working through the various grades.

Within a teaching career of nearly forty-three years I have placed many hundreds of successful Piano examination candidates - ranging from "Grade One" to "Grade Eight" and beyond.

Most of these successes have been in "Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music" examinations - although some pupils prefer the "Trinity Guildhall" examination system
As Your Teacher I will endeavour to:
1/ Convey my enthusiasm for music, and impart artistic sensibilities.
2/ Offer advice on interpretation, musicianship and style.
3/ Instil sound technical habits.
4/ Develop reading and listening skills.
5/ Develop memory and improvising skills.
6/ Encourage the build up good practice habits.
7/ Introduce a variety of musical styles.
8/ Report regularly, if they wish - to parents on pupils' progress.
9/ Help with the preparation of candidates for Grade and Diploma examinations.
10/ Offer advice for pupils wishing to take up a musical career.

My overall aim is for pupils to increase their musical knowledge and enjoyment of music, whilst developing their instrumental technique and hopefully fulfilling their potential.
