I was born in Southampton (UK) and took an interest in music from an early age. As a child I won many classes at various Competitive Music Festivals and later went on to study for four years at the Royal Academy of Music in London where I obtained my professional qualifications. My Professors included Mr. Frederic Jackson F.R.A.M. and Mrs. Margaret Hubicki M.B.E., F.R.A.M. I have also studied with Ms.Brenda Lucas A.R.M.C.M., (Mrs. John Ogdon) and with Mme. Eva Bernatova F.T.C.L. at the Trinity College of Music, London. I have performed at the Guildhall and at the Art Gallery in Southampton as well as many other venues.
I am an active Composer and have written works ranging from a Symphony for Chamber Orchestra to a children’s musical play - as well as many pieces for the Flute and for the Piano.
Most of my career has been in teaching ~ in both private and state schools (twice as head of my department) and in private Piano, Flute and music theory teaching at my home (in Southampton) ~ which I particularly enjoy.
Apart from musical activities I enjoy regular holidays on the Portuguese islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and in Italy. I also enjoy photography and building web sites !
My qualifications are listed below (with links to the relevant institutions) and I am always happy to receive new pupils of all ages and abilities at my home in Southampton.
